Donated digital devices to children through our donation feature

GarageBank Corporation is pleased to announce that, through cashari's donation feature, we partnered with the certified NPO Bridge for Smile (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Chair: Keiko Hayashi; hereinafter "Bridge for Smile"), which supports children unable to rely on parents in preparing for independent living and building careers, and donated digital devices to children.

By circulating physical assets to children in need, we aim to help close the digital divide caused by family circumstances and household income.

Overview and purpose of the donation feature

The donation feature lets users donate items registered in cashari through simple in-app operations. By circulating physical assets to children in need, the feature aims to expand opportunities for children and reduce the digital divide caused by family circumstances and income. Offering a donation option also addresses users who wish to contribute to society easily, in addition to those whose primary need is liquidity.

Aside from providing the items, users bear no costs — shipping and other expenses are borne by GarageBank.

Details of the donation

The items donated this time, in partnership with Bridge for Smile, included laptops and other devices contributed by users via cashari. After collection and inspection by GarageBank, the items were registered on Todokun, the donation-matching site operated by Bridge for Smile, and delivered to children matched on the platform.

Under our mission "Turning the value of goods into possibilities for everyone," we will continue to pursue a true circular economy.

About NPO Bridge for Smile

Bridge for Smile, founded in 2004, works toward a society where children who could not rely on their parents and who lived in foster homes or with foster families can grow up smiling. To help young people overcome the challenges of leaving care at age 18 and to give them the courage to face the future, the organization provides seminars on independent living and career building, places to belong and housing, hands-on support, and employment and career-change support.
